The Wallowa Valley Photo Club
Meetings
The Photo Club meets on the first and third Tuesdays of every month except for July and August. In August, we have our annual picnic. The meeting on the first Tuesday of a month is generally devoted to a workshop or other educational or developmental activity. Sometimes members use these meetings to get together to view and discuss our photographs. The meeting on the third Tuesday of a month is usually a slide show or other kind of presentation.
Meetings are held in the club room, which is in Suite 203 of the Enterprise Professional Building (also known as "The Mall"), located at the corner of SW 1st and Greenwood Streets in Enterprise. Meetings commence at 7:00 p.m.
Photo Club meetings are always open to visitors. We would be very glad to have you join us. Contact us through wallowaphoto@gmail.com to confirm a meeting, get directions, or find out what is planned for the evening.
Activities
The activity for which the Photo Club is best known is the production of its annual calendar, which we sell locally. We also market a small book of Wallowa photos and three screen saver CDs. Through these products, we pay Club expenses and, most importantly, Club members have their photos published.
Club meetings have slide shows and mini-workshops presented by members. We also have occasional workshops presented by local professional photographers. In addition to the twice-monthly meetings, there have been several photographic field trips this past year.
WVPC Online
The Photo Club sponsors an online discussion group for the benefit of its members. Enrollment in WVPC Online is automatic upon joining the Club.
Our Purpose
The Wallowa Valley Photo Club is a 501(c)(4) non-profit organization for the purpose of acting as a coordinating, educational, and service organization to foster, promote, encourage, and increase the knowledge, appreciation, and practice of photography.
In recent years, the Photo Club has co-sponsored with the Wallowa County Chieftain the annual Wallowa Country Photo Contest, and we sponsor the Wallowa County Festival of the Arts at the Monet level by providing for prizes in photography. This January 2009 the Photo Club is also a sponsor of the Eagle Cap Extreme sled dog races through our donation of Club products for the mushers.
